Acid reflux & Gut Health

Heartburn and reflux are miserable and incredibly painful! The irony is that most cases of heartburn and reflux are due to low stomach as opposed to high stomach acid! The standard medical approach to deal with the issue is to suppress stomach acid even further with acid-blocking medication such as a proton pump inhibitor like Omeprazole.

Research shows us that long-term use of PPI's can lead to chronic IBS symptoms and impair nutrient absorption, leading to serious health issues, such as B12, calcium, iron malabsorption, and dementia.

Just three days on a proton pump inhibitor is enough to cause rebound symptoms when trying to come off it. The rebound symptoms can cause worse reflux symptoms than the original episode! This can lead to the patient believing this proves that a PPI is required to feel well. This is not the case, and with professional guidance on how to safely remove the PPI, along with supporting the underlying causes of acid reflux and heartburn, freedom from reflux and PPI's is possible!
